Half term online creative music project with Tara Franks (cello) and Preetha Narayanan (violin) of Balladeste and Quest Ensemble

For young string players grade 2-6 (violin, cello, viola, double bass)

We are looking for young musicians, who live in the London boroughs of either Haringey or Islingon,  to take part in an exciting creative project to help compose and record ideas for a new sound installation, as part of the St Mellitus organ restoration project, generously supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Over the course of the project, participants will work with experienced instrumentalists/composers/creative leaders Tara and Preetha, to explore new sounds on their instruments and compose some new ideas together. The music and sounds created will be recorded, to form part of a sound installation put together by members of Quest Ensemble, involving music and text from a series of workshops with schools, music and community groups from the local area.

The sound installation will be available online and for future visitors to the church. A launch weekend will be scheduled in the Summer to celebrate the opening of the new work.

When:             Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th February

Time:               3-5pm

Where:            Online (Zoom)

You will need: Your instrument, a device to a join the zoom sessions and something to record yourself with (such as voice memo on a smart phone will work).
