The St Mellitus memorial organ is of unique historical and cultural value as an instrument that was built to commemorate local men who went to fight in the First World War.

St Mellitus Church received a generous grant from the National Heritage Lottery Fund during the funded phase of the project and the restoration of the organ is now complete. Further funds will contribute to the legacy and maintenance of this ‘king of instruments’ and give the local community and wider public access to one of London’s finest organs, as well as help to remember the 221 men of the parish who are commemorated by the organ for their First World War service.
